On Sunday 25 June 2006 I purchased the entire part works for this one inch scale dolls’ house for NZ$150 (a mere 8% of the original price) on TradeMe (the New Zealand version of eBay). There were 125 parts published in all but I only received 123 as two parts were unfortunately missing. The intention was to build the house and furniture over a year. The previous owner had opened issues 01 – 40 assembling the furniture (and some of the house) but had not finished anything nicely.
Pictured below is how the house will look outside and inside as per the magazine. While the quality of this house and furniture isn’t the greatest it will be good practice and I am sure to learn something along the way.
Also pictured below is how much of the house was built by the previous owner. The wallpaper and floor papers were all in a poor condition due to fading, scratches and bad storage.
As with most things I start enthusiasm soon waned and so it was with this house. I had pulled as much as I could of the house apart but some of the glue just wouldn’t let go.
Work on the house and furniture stopped October 2006. I had by this time re-finished all the furniture up to part 40. One inch scale projects were taking up to much room in my already crowded hobby room so it as now that I decided to concentrate on halfscale. So the house and part works were stored away.
Then on 24 July 2007 I purchased parts 01 – 23 for NZ$35 on TradeMe. I just couldn’t resist. Each part had originally cost NZ$15 so this was a steal.
Now it is 6 August 2009 and work has re-commenced on this project – it is about time too!!!
